THE INVENTOR
SAULO GENERINO BEZERRA DE MELO
My passion for double bass began at an early age as I used to watch my father, Gabriel Bezerra de Melo, then musician of the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, play the
instrument. In 1980, at the age of 22, I joined the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra (OSB) and later the Petrobrás Symphony Orchestra (OPES). During these 40 years, I was
also a member of the National Symphony Orchestra of the Rio de Janeiro State Federal University (OSN) and the Symphony Orchestra of the Federal University of Rio de
Janeiro (OSUFRJ). Currently, I am the concertino at the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra and the Petrobras Symphony Orchestra.
THE INVENTION
THE ERGONPIN
After so many years in this profession, the weight of the instrument started to take its toll. But looking for angled endpins on the market, I found no truly ergonomic solutions. That's why I developed the Ergonpin, a double
bass double endpin that is perfectly adaptable to each musician's playing position, even sitting with both feet on the floor. The Ergonpin means to me the ability to perform
my art in a healthier way. I am glad to see the Ergonpin serving many musicians and help them achieve their best sound.
